Awards
The International Society of Bassists (ISB) and the Violin Society of America (VSA) hold instrument making contests on alternate years. VSA is in the even years, ISB is in the odd.
Awards are given for both tone and workmanship. One can earn a certificate of merit or a silver medal in either or both. A gold medal is only given to an instrument which earns a silver in both.
